Coast Guard cutter Morgenthau to host Boats’ n Kids Kickoff Day

COAST GUARD ISLAND, ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Alameda-based Coast Guard cutter Morgenthau will be hosting the annual Boats’ n Kids season kickoff day here Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The safety oriented program is geared towards children ages 5 through 12. The program will include a walking tour aboard the cutter where the participants will be able to stop at different stations to learn boating safety tips and how to prevent accidents. The program also features an environmental safety presentation.

In addition to boating safety, members of the Coast Guard will talk about the different missions of the cutter. For parties interested, Coast Guard officers will on request share their experiences of attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

A boat demonstration will be performed by Station San Francisco, and to conclude the event Air Station San Francisco will perform a helicopter rescue demonstration.
