Coast Guard Cutter Midgett receives new commanding officer

SEATTLE — Capt. Teri Jordan relieved Capt. Brendan McPherson as commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, Thursday.

Jordan is reporting from Joint Task Force East in Portsmouth, Virginia, where she served as the support section chief after completing afloat assignments on Coast Guard Cutter Firebush and Coast Guard Cutter Eagle.

McPherson has been assigned as chief of staff, Coast Guard 13th District in Seattle, where he will oversee staff in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and execute the district commander’s operational strategy and intent.

“I am honored to fill the shoes of a great leader like Capt. McPherson,” said Jordan. “When I told my father I was coming to the Midgett, his sole advice to me was to have fun. Well, crew, let’s have some fun.”

The Midgett, homeported in Seattle, is the 12th of the fleet’s 378-foot high endurance cutters.
