Coast Guard Cutter Maple welcomes Juneau community with tours

JUNEAU, Alaska – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Maple will be open to the public at the Coast Guard Station Juneau pier Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Maple, also known as the “Keeper of the Northern Lights”, is a 225-foot Juniper Class buoy tender homeported in Sitka involved in a broad range of missions including search and rescue, fisheries law enforcement, aids to navigation, and pollution response.

The crew is comprised of 7 officers and 41 enlisted members who patrol 1,000 mile area of operation from Skagway to Ketchikan. This area contains countless aids to navigation and is home to thousands of fishing vessels.

Coast Guard Station Juneau is located at 345 Egan Dr., Juneau, Alaska.
