Coast Guard Cutter Long Island to hold change of command in Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan, Alaska — Lt. Kalen Kenny will relieve Lt. Adam Disque as commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Long Island during a formal ceremony at Base Ketchikan, Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Disque has commanded the Coast Guard Cutter Long Island since July 2011. He will next attend the University of Delaware to study living marine resource policy and marine affairs.

Kenny is reporting to the Long Island from duties as the operations officer aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Campbell, homeported in Kittery, Maine. His previous assignments include tours as the communications officer and first lieutenant aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Reliance in Kittery and as executive officer aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Liberty when it was stationed in Auke Bay.

Kenny’s personal awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals and a Coast Guard Achievement Medal.
