Coast Guard cutter helps Gloucester fishing crew

BOSTON– Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba responded to a call for help from the crew of the Dianne Lynn II who was taking on water about 40 miles east of Gloucester, Mass., Wednesday.

The master of the 65-foot fishing boat reported that they were taking on water and the vessel’s dewatering pumps could not keep up. Escanaba arrived on scene within the hour and sent over a rescue and assistance team. Once aboard, Escanaba’s team helped to secure the source of the flooding.

Escanaba escorted the boat to ensure the fishing crew safe transit and handed off the escort to a 47- foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Gloucester to continue to the boat’s home port.

The Escanaba crew resumed patrol in the waters off of New England.
