Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba crew volunteers at Centre of Hope in Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba took time out of their day to help others at the Salvation Army’s Centre of Hope in Halifax, Nova Scotia, June 29, 2010.

The Centre’s goal is to provide hope and help people in the community to get back on their feet by providing rooms, 3 meals a day, addiction services and job skills training.

In the short time there, the cutter crew was able to get a lot of work done. The Escanaba crew teamed up with sailors from the USS Gettysburg and USS Boone to help paint the kitchen, dining hall and some bedrooms as well as do a little landscaping around the building.
