NEW LONDON, Conn. — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle held a change of command ceremony aboard the Eagle at Fort Trumbull State Park this morning.
Capt. Raymond ‘Wes’ Pulver assumed responsibility as commanding officer of Eagle from Capt. Eric C. Jones in the change of command ceremony.
Vice Adm. Robert C. Parker, commander of Coast Guard Atlantic Area, presided over the ceremony.
“It was an honorable privilege to preside over another historic moment in Eagle’s 76-year history of Coast Guard service,” said Vice Adm. Parker.
The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition that formally restates the continuity of command – the transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another.
The ceremony affords personnel of the command, guests and the community at large to recognize the achievements and service of the commanding officer, while at the same time welcoming aboard the prospective commanding officer.
