Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback relocates to Sector Jacksonville

Southeastern Coast Guard News
ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback and 12-person crew arrived at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville in Atlantic Beach Thursday morning, officially shifting the cutter’s homeport from Miami.

The Diamondback is an 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat with primary missions of search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, fisheries enforcement, marine environmental protection, defense readiness; and ports, waterways and coastal security.

Lt. j.g. Johnston Ariail, Diamondback’s commanding officer, said the crew is excited to be in Jacksonville and is looking forward to operating in the area.

An extensive review of multiple potential homeports determined Sector Jacksonville is the best location for the Diamondback and its crew.

The Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher, another 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat, is also homeported at Sector Jacksonville as well as the cutters Hammer and Maria Bray.
