Coast Guard Cutter Dependable crew to return home Saturday

PORTSMOUTH, Va., — The Crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Dependable is scheduled to return to their homeport after a two month deployment at 5:30 p.m. in Cape May, New Jersey, Saturday.

The crew aboard the Dependable patrolled the southern Caribbean. During the patrol the crew interdicted and repatriated 82 Haitian Migrants, interdicted one vessel, four suspected drug smugglers and seized 2,085 pounds of marijuana at an valued at $1.9 million.

Medium-endurance cutters like the 210-foot Dependable are built for multi-week offshore patrols, including operations requiring enhanced communications, and helicopter and pursuit boat operations, which provide a key capability for homeland security missions at sea.
