PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. – The Coast Guard Cutter Confidence, a 210-foot reliance class cutter with a crew of 12 officers and 63 enlisted members returned to homeport Tuesday following a 43-day maritime law enforcement patrol in support of the Joint Interagency Task Force South in the Western Caribbean Sea and Central America.
During the patrol crewmembers were part of a multinational task force deterring the trafficking of illegal substances in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Coast Guard officials partnered wit the nations of Panama, Nicaragua and Colombia.
During the patrol the crew of the Confidence also hosted six cadets from the Coast Guard Academy based in New London, Conn., as part of their summer training assignments. The summer program allows cadets to gain valuable insight into the Coast Guard missions while preparing them for a future as a commissioned officer upon graduation.
