This is great memorial and tradition to remember the lost crewmembers of the BLACKTHORN. In my Ensign days, I sailed with MK1 Stidhem, who was later killed aboard the BLACKTHORN. My father-in-law attended the dedication ceremony on my behalf and every time I pass over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, I make it a point to stop at the Blackthorn park and reflect on the many CG lives that have been lost in guarding our coasts. This is especially true as we live through the loss of CG6535 in Mobile. Don’t miss the oppportunity to visit this memorial when in the area.
