MIAMI — Coast Guard crews, and partner agencies are searching for a missing kayaker in the vicinity of Oleta River State Park, Fla., Thursday.
Missing is, Vivian Ellis, a 31-year-old male who resides in Miramar, Fla.
Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Miami received a report from the Blue Moon Rental Center, a kayak rental facility in Oleta River State Park of a missing kayaker at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday. Ellis rented a kayak at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday and was scheduled to return the kayak before sunset, but never returned.
Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Fla, boatcrews were launched to search the area. A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami launched to search over the mangroves and Intracoastal Waterway.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission along with Oleta River State Park Rangers searched the park Wednesday with negative results of finding Ellis.
