NEW ORLEANS – Coast Guard crews are searching for a missing man on the Mississippi River near Baton Rogue, La. approximately one mile south of the I-10 Bridge this morning after he was reported missing at approximately 12 a.m.
An HH-65 rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was immediately launched to assist in the search and another crew was launched to conduct a first light search this morning. The two crews searched the Mississippi River for a combined two hours.
Two East Baton Rogue Sheriff’s Office boat crews are assisting with the search.
A 25-foot response boat-small crew from Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Baton Rogue is en route to assist in the search.
The missing man is described as a 20-year old male, wearing jeans, a black shirt and an orange work vest. Any sightings should be reported to Coast Guard Sector New Orleans at (504) 846-6161.
