NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is responding to a work boat that struck and became stuck on a wellhead approximately 7 miles north of main pass near Venice, La.
The workboat had nine people on board and reported four were injured.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans launched a HH-65C rescue helicopter from Air Station New Orleans to medevac a crewman from the boat who was reported to have serious injuries.
Two response boats from Station Venice were launched to evacuate the rest of the crew from the stranded workboat.
There is no reported pollution.
