Coast Guard crew rescues 3 in Lake Champlain

BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Coast Guard Station Burlington crewmembers rescued three boaters after their sailing vessel was de-masted at Lake Champlain, May 22, 2011.

Coast Guard watchstanders responded to a 911-dispatch call about three boaters whose vessel became disabled at approximately 4 p.m. Two people were ejected from the vessel.

Coast Guard rescue crews launched immediately and arrived on scene. Rescue crews found an adult male and a child clinging to floating objects near the disabled vessel. The boaters were pulled from the water and taken back to Station Burlington where emergency medical services were waiting.

All three boaters were reported to be in good condition.
