SITKA, Alaska – A Coast Guard Station Ketchikan crew and Aids to Navigation Team Sitka crew patrolled the waters in the Sitka Sound during the third opener of the Sitka Sound sac roe herring fishery to ensure the safety of the fishing fleet April 4, 2011.
With more than 50 vessels in the sound, the Coast Guard crews was ready to respond in the case of a maritime emergency during the herring fishery.
