Coast Guard crews medevac man from fishing vessel near Point Judith, Rhode Island

BOSTON — Coast Guard crews medically evacuated a 28-year-old male from the fishing vessel Finest Kind II, 18 nautical miles south of Point Judith, Rhode Island, Friday.

Crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tybee, homeported in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, received notification via VHF radio at approximately 8:30 a.m., Friday, from the Finest Kind II of a crewmember who was experiencing heart attack symptoms.
The Tybee immediately launched a small boat crew, safely embarked the crewmember and transported him to a Coast Guard Station Point Judith boat crew. The boat crew transferred him to awaiting EMS at approximately 10 a.m.
He was then taken to South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island.

His condition is unknown.
