MOBILE, Ala. — Coast Guard aircrews are taking to the sky again in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac to continue the search for a missing person and assess the condition of local ports, Wednesday.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and crew has been launched to continue the search for a 47-year-old, male who was reported missing at approximately 8:30 p.m., Monday.
An HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft and crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew have been launched to assess port conditions along the central Gulf Coast. The aircraft will look for life safety, pollution and critical infrastructure conditions as a result of the storm.
“The Coast Guard will continue to fly this morning in hopes of locating the missing person.” said Lt. j.g. Timothy Williams. “While the search for the missing person remains our primary focus, the Coast Guard is also committed to working with industry partners, state and local officials to assess our ports and waterways to ensure we respond to any environmental concerns and reopen the ports for commerce when we deem it safe.”
