Coast Guard crew search for missing girl near Rockport, Mass.

1st Coast Guard District NewsBOSTON — U.S. Coast Guard rescue crews are searching for a missing three year-old girl near Rockport, Mass., Thursday.

Coast Guard crews are working with local authorities to locate the missing girl.

Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders received notification that the girl went missing near Long Beach at 12:50 p.m.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Gloucester, a 49-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Boston, and a MH-60 Rescue helicopter, from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, are searching the area.

Local authorities including Rockport Police Department boat and helicopter crews along along with the harbormaster are also searching the area. A shoreline search is being conducted.

The Coast Guard Cutter Flying Fish, an 87-foot patrol boat, is en-route to the scene.

“The Coast Guard is working closely with state and local authorities to maximize search efforts,” said Lt. Jordan Boghosian, the command duty officer for the 1st District Command Center. “We hoping for the best possible outcome.”
