NEW LONDON, Conn. – A Coast Guard Station New London boatcrew rescued a stranded swimmer off the Connecticut coast Thursday.
Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound watchstanders received a report about the missing swimmer at approximately 10:00 p.m., Wednesday night.
Sector Long Island Sound issued an urgent marine information broadcast to mariners, requesting they keep a look out for the swimmer.
The rescue crew from Station New London found the girl at approximately 12:20 a.m. clinging to a rock at the base of the New London Ledge Light.
After pulling her aboard the 29-foot Response Boat-Small, the Station rescue crew safely transported her back to Station New London to awaiting medical crews.

The Coast Guard advises all swimmers to be aware of strong currents, sea conditions and to swim with a partner.
