PEA PATCH ISLAND, Del. – The Coast Guard rescued 3 people aboard a disabled 23-foot boat north of Pea Patch Island, Del., Sunday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 5 p.m. from a crew member aboard the Sanity Plea reporting they are disabled and taking on water. The boat’s bilge pump is keeping up with the flooding and it is at anchor.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Salem, N.J., arrived on scene and took the crew of the Sanity Plea in tow and towed them to Delaware City Marina in Delaware City, Del.

No injuries were reported.

“He had all the proper safety equipment out and ready and was at anchor, which made it a lot easier to assist him,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Brian Nafe, a coxswain at Station Salem.
