Coast Guard crew rescues 3 in Indian River Inlet

INDIAN RIVER, Del. – The Coast Guard rescued three aboard a disabled 32-foot sport fishing boat Friday near the north jetty rocks here.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Station Indian River received a call at 11:12 p.m. from a crewmember aboard Outlet reporting they were in need of assistance transiting into Indian River Inlet.

The Outlet crew reported they only had one working engine due to a broken shaft, no steering, low visibility due to fog and were drifting towards the north jetty rocks.

A rescue boat from Coast Guard station Indian River arrived on scene and towed the boat to Indian River Marina.
