NEWPORT, N.J. – The Coast Guard rescued two people Saturday in Nantuxent Creek near Newport, N.J., who were reported overdue after the personal watercraft they were aboard became stranded in shallow water.
The Coast Guard received a call at 9:32 p.m. from one of the overdue persons father reporting his son and his son’s friend overdue from their trip.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Fortescue, N.J., and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., searched for them.
The rescue boat crew located the two people aboard their personal watercraft stranded in shallow water and brought them both aboard their boat.
The rescue boat crew transported them to their residence in Newport.
The two people had no medical issues.
