Coast Guard crew medevacs 1 near Cape May, N.J.

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 27-year-old male Friday from a 151-foot boat a half-mile off the coast of Cape May, N.J.

The Coast Guard received a call at 6:38 a.m. from a crew member aboard the Relentless reporting a crew member injured his upper arm region while picking up an object.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May arrived on scene and transported the man to Station Cape May where he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel.

“It’s important to take safety precautions when performing activities aboard a boat to avoid injuries such as this one,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher Mclaughlin, a Coast Guard spokesperson.
