Coast Guard crew, local agencies assist 1 near Manasquan Inlet, N.J.

MANASQUAN INLET, N.J. – The Coast Guard along with local agencies assisted a 52-year-old man after he conducted two 130-foot dives 15 nautical miles east of Manasquan Inlet Sunday.

Assisted was Kurt Ebler, 52, from Westfield, N.J.

The Coast Guard received a call at 2:30 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the dive vessel Independence reporting Ebler was suffering from dizziness, blurred vision and was sweating. The crewmember also stated they were bringing Ebler to Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and crewmembers from Point Pleasant Beach Police and New Jersey State Police arrived on scene and escorted the Independence and its crew to the station where Ebler was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel in stable condition and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J.
