Currently searching are:

Coast Guard Cutter Active

Coast Guard Cutter Pike

Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento HC-130 aircrews

Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco MH-65 helicopter crews

A Carrier Airborne Command and Control Squadron One One Seven E2-C Hawkeye aircrew, homeported at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, Calif., will also be joining the search Monday afternoon.

The vessel, possibly named Charmblow, was approximately 65 miles off the coast of Pillar Point, Calif., when they radioed Coast Guard Sector San Francisco at 4:20 p.m. They stated that they were taking on water and the vessel’s electronics were failing. At 5:30 p.m. the vessel operator reported that they were abandoning the vessel, and the Coast Guard lost radio communications with them. The crew may have possibly made it into a make-shift liferaft.

Upon receiving the notification from the vessel, Coast Guard Sector San Francisco issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched multiple rescue assets.

Anyone with any information regarding this case or the sailboat name is requested to contact Coast Guard Sector San Francisco immediately at 415-399-3547.
