Coast Guard continues to search for downed aircraft east of Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coast Guard is continuing to search Thursday for a downed aircraft two miles east of St. John’s River Inlet.

The Coast Guard Cutter Ridley will continue to search throughout the night.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Thursday, the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) notified Coast Guard 7th District watchstanders of an aircraft distress call. The Piper PA-46 aircraft was enroute to New Jersey from Orlando with two people on board.
