Coast Guard continues to respond to sunken barge

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is continuing its response to a sunken barge on the Ohio River near Cairo, Illinois, Thursday.

The sunken barge carrying pig iron has been located near mile marker 964 on the Ohio River.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Tennessee Valley Towing are developing a salvage plan to be approved by the Coast Guard.

The Olmsted Lock and Dam has been reopened.

There are no waterway closures due to the incident.
