HONOLULU – The Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department continue to search today for a 36-year-old surfer who was reported overdue early this morning. The surfer left from Pipeline, north shore of Oahu, Thursday evening.
Crewmembers from an Air Station Barbers Point HH-65 Dolphin helicopter and the Coast Guard Cutter Ahi are searching an area near Wiamea Bay along the shoreline to Sunset Beach and approximately five miles off shore.
Honolulu Fire Department personnel contacted Coast Guard Sector Honolulu at 12:10 a.m., after receiving information that the man was reported missing by his girlfriend. He did not return to his car Thursday evening.
