Missing is Peter J. Rodrigues, 57.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received the initial report from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office at approximately 5:45 p.m., stating that the 30-foot fishing boat Sea Witch had washed ashore without a crew, but a pair of shoes and cell phone were discovered aboard and the engines were still running.

The Coast Guard is continuing to search with the following assets:

  • An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater
  • A 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Coast Guard Station Mayport
  • The Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback, an 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat homeported at Station Mayport

Editor’s Note: The initial story about the search for Peter Rodrigues reported his age as being 47 when in fact he is 57 and contained a misspelling of his name.
