Coast Guard continues search for man overboard near Longboat Key

LONGBOAT KEY, Fla.- The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are continuing to search for a 20-year-old man who went overboard from a boat at about 7:25 p.m. Thursday, approximately 10 miles west of Longboat Key.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call from the 43-foot fishing vessel Cindy Lee reporting that Michael Taylor went overboard from the bow of the boat and had not re-surfaced.

Assets from the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, FWC and the Longboat Fire and Rescue have searched throughout the night.

Continuing the search are:

  • Coast Guard Station Cortez, Fla., 25-foot rescue boat crew
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary Cessna aircraft crew
  • Three FWC search-and-rescue boat crews

FWC is investigating the incident.
