Coast Guard Continues Search for Hialeah Man

NAPLES, Fla. – The Coast Guard is continuing its search today for a person in the water about 10-nautical-miles west of Gordon’s Pass, near Naples, Fla., after two people were recovered Saturday.

Missing is Delarosa Alvarez, 21, of Hialeah, Fla.

Radaniel Cruz, 21, of Hialeah, Fla., was pulled from the water by a good Samaritan at 11:45 a.m. Saturday near Gordon’s Pass. Cruz reported that he was in a 34-foot, white and yellow vessel with two other people aboard when it capsized near Gordon’s Pass.

Walfrido Alvarez, 35, of Hialeah, was rescued near Gordon’s Pass at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday by a rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, in Fort Myers, Fla.

Both men were wearing life jackets. The two survivors were brought to Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla., Saturday.

Today, a C-130 search plane from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., and the Coast Guard Cutter Marlin, home ported in Fort Myers, are searching the area for Alvarez.

The Coast Guard is requesting the public contact 727-824-7506 with any information that may assist rescuers in locating Alvarez.
