Coast Guard continues response to platform fire in Bayou Sorrel

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Coast Guard, along with state and local agencies, continues to respond to the Berry Lake Platform Fire near Bayou Sorrel, Wednesday.

Response crews extinguished the fire around 1 p.m., and will remain on scene to monitor the situation. Thus far, there has been a minimum amount of pollution released and is expected to dissipate naturally.

Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans established a safety zone around the incident site, while crews continue response efforts.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
