Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay is overseeing commercial salvage operations to offload fuel and oil to prevent possible pollution.
The Atlantic City-based 77-foot fishing boat Capt. Gavin, which ran aground one mile south of Manasquan Inlet, is scheduled to be towed to a dry dock facility in Staten Island, New York. The Coast Guard is working with the vessel’s owners to reduce the risk of pollution while waiting for inclement weather to subside so the vessel can be re-floated.
No injuries, pollution or damage have been reported.
