Coast Guard continues Baton Rouge area rescues

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has rescued more than 50 people in distress from rooftops, automobiles and trailers due to flooding in the Baton Rouge area, Saturday.

Two MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and one MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama are assisting the Baton Rouge Police Department, Baton Rouge Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Governor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, and the Louisiana National Guard in the assisting or rescuing of more than 300 people.

The Coast Guard continues to support as requested by local authorities.
