Coast Guard conducts vessel pursuit training

KEY WEST, Fla., – Coast Guard crewmembers are scheduled to conduct vessel pursuit training in cooperation with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators offshore Coast Guard Station Key West, Fla., June 20-22.

The three-day course will focus on improving the skills and knowledge of crewmembers operating law enforcement vessels at high speeds in various sea conditions day or night in order to pursue, stop and board vessels that fail to yield to officers’ orders to stop.

“Proficiency is a Coast Guard priority and this dedicated training course will contribute to continued safe and effective mission execution,” said Capt. Pat DeQuattro, Commander, Coast Guard Sector Key West.

The training will be conducted clear of commercial and recreational traffic; however, the public may observe Coast Guard boats training aggressively.
