GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Coast Guard shallow-water rescue boat teams conducted response operations in areas flooded by Hurricane Florence, in Newport, North Carolina, on Saturday and Sunday.
The boat team crew members searched for residents stranded by flood waters and transported utility workers to a power substation to perform maintenance to prepare to restore power to the area.
The Coast Guard and its state, local and federal partners have been working together throughout North Carolina to conduct search and rescue missions and to survey and rebuild damaged infrastructure.
