Coast Guard commemorates 67th anniversary of Operation Landgrab

KODIAK, Alaska – Personnel at Coast Guard Long-Range Aid to Navigation Station Attu held a flag ceremony at precisely 4:20 p.m. May 11, 2010, to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the arrival of U.S. forces in Operation Landgrab.

This was the U.S. invasion of Attu Island Tuesday, May 11, 1943, that recaptured the island from Japanese forces during WWII.
