Coast Guard Commandant to Outline Plans for Modernization

WASHINGTON-Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen will provide remarks on Coast Guard modernization and his goals and priorities for 2008 in two speeches this month at the National Press Club. Both events are open to credentialed media.

In the Commandant’s first speaking event, at the National Press Club on Friday, he will outline plans for reorganizing and modernizing the Coast Guard during a luncheon speech titled “Honoring Our Past – Not Operating In It: Modernizing America’s Coast Guard to Meet Growing Demands.” This will be followed by a question and answer session.

In the Commandant’s second speaking event, he will provide the annual State of the Coast Guard Address, outlining the organization’s goals and priorities for 2008.  That speech will also be at the National Press Club on February 14.
