Coast Guard closes portion of the Mississippi River to recreational boaters

ST. LOUIS — The Coast Guard closed a portion of the Upper Mississippi River Friday, near Dardienne Island, Mo.

This boating restriction is from mile marker 226 to 229 on the west, back channel of Dardienne Island due to flooding conditions. Boaters operating in the restricted area could cause excessive wakes, which could damage property along the river.

Recreational boaters are reminded to listen to UHF marine band channel 16 for broadcast notice to mariners, which update operating restrictions.

The Coast Guard continues to monitor river conditions.
