ST. LOUIS —The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a river closure for a portion of the Big Sioux River for all vessel traffic between the Missouri River confluence and the Military Road Bridge in north Sioux City, S.D., due to high water.
The Missouri River is now closed to all vessel traffic between mile marker 550, where the state lines of Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri meet to mile marker 811, Gaven’s Point Dam in Yankton, S.D., after consulting with the governor of South Dakota and the state of Iowa.
The Coast Guard urges mariners to monitor channels 16 and 22 for any changes that might occur.
