Coast Guard, Port Angeles first responders rescue man after fall near Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES, Wash. – The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of an injured man, Monday afternoon in Port Angeles after a fall off a cliff near Port Angeles.

A Coast Guard helicopter hoisted a 31-year-old male and a Port Angeles Fire Department emergency medical technician from the cliffside and transported them to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received a call for assistance from Peninsula Communications dispatch at 12:19 p.m., requesting medical transport for a patient with multiple broken bones. Shortly after receiving the request a Port Angeles aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter arrived on scene and conducted the hoist.

The aircrew landed the helicopter in Seattle at 2:12 p.m., and transferred care of the patient to medical center personnel. The current condition of the injured man was reported as stable.

Port Angeles Police Department officers are investigating the incident.
