CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard and the Chatham County Marine Patrol rescued a missing jet skier Saturday near Wasssaw Sound, Georgia.

Rescued was Ben Whale, 24.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a call via VHF-FM radio channel 16 at 5:37 p.m. from a friend of Whale stating he was searching for him after finding his jet ski.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew launched at 6:13 p.m. and began searching.

At 6:32 p.m., the Dolphin crew located Whale in the water and notified a Chatham County Marine Patrol crew of his location. The Marine Patrol crew recovered Whale from the water and transported him safely to shore.

No injuries were reported.
