Coast Guard cadet found guilty of sexual assault charges

Justice ThumbNORFOLK, Va. — Cadet Anthony J. Livingstone was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to eight years in prison and dismissal from the service at general court-martial today.

Livingstone was charged with the following violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice: Article 120 sexual assault, Article 127 extortion, and Article 133 conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. He was found guilty yesterday of all charges, and has the right to appeal his conviction and sentence. Livingstone was suspended from the Corps of Cadets December 2015, shortly after being charged.

The Coast Guard remains committed to creating a culture intolerant of sexual assault, and the behaviors that enable it, and will continue efforts to eliminate sexual assault from its ranks through a strong culture of respect and prevention.
