SEATTLE — The U.S. Coast Guard and Bellingham Fire Dept. are responding to a marina fire that occurred at Bellingham, Wash., early Friday.
The Coast Guard was notified at approximately 5:35 a.m. that Pier G East of the Squalicum Harbor Marina, in Bellingham Bay, was on fire with boats and boat enclosures burning.
Coast Guard response boats from Coast Guard Sector Bellingham are providing a safety zone and a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angelis is on scene to assist. Bellingham Fire Department is battling the fire, and the extent of damage is unknown at this time.
Coast Guard pollution investigators are also assessing potential environmental impact resulting from the fire.
