SARASOTA, Fla. – The Coast Guard Auxiliary is scheduled to hold their 3rd annual “Always Ready” Exposition Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the north VanWezel Theatre parking lot at 1101 Tenth St., Sarasota, FL 34236.
As a kickoff to National Safe Boating Week and in honor of National Armed Forces day, this child-friendly, interactive expo showcases all of the “first responders” from Manatee and Sarasota Counties.
Exhibits will include a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicoper, police K-9, equestrian, SWAT, bomb squad and helicopter, Florida Highway Patrol roll-over display, Sarasota County Fire / Rescue apparatus, Community Blood Bank, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission helicopter, air boat and touch tank, Transportation Safety Administration, Manatee County Emergency Operations Center Mobile Command Center, Manatee County Beach Patrol vessels, basic first aid demonstrations, live rescue swimmer demonstration, a children’s fire-fighter challenge, bounce houses, face painting and much more.
“Last years event drew over 5,000 people, and this year we expect even more,” said Coast Guard Auxiliarist Randy Moritz, department chief of response for Division 8, Seventh Coast Guard District.
Booths will include marine safety, environmental protection, life jackets, and local safe boating class information. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
