HONOLULU − The Coast Guard and several first responders attended an annual D.A.R.E. rally for 5th graders from various Molokai elementary schools at Kaunakakai Ball Park, Molokai, Friday.
“The rally is to encourage the children to make good and smart life decisions and to stay away from drugs,” said Officer Sepulona Falealii, a member of the Maui Police Department Molokai division and coordinator for the D.A.R.E. rally. “We were so happy to have all the agencies come out for this wonderful event for the kids.”
The rally was held to educate the children on the dangers of drugs and also included demonstrations from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point, National Guard, Maui Police Department, Maui County Fire Department, Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and several other agencies.
In addition, the event coincided with the Centennial of Coast Guard Aviation, which includes public education and outreach designed to recognize Coast Guard aviation’s unique contribution to our nation’s well-being.
