Coast Guard assists vessel taking on water south of Perdido Pass, Florida

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard assisted a vessel taking on water approximately 11 miles south of Perdido Pass, Florida, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile, Alabama, received a report at approximately 1:57 p.m. of a 25-foot vessel taking on water with five people aboard.

Sector Mobile watchstanders directed the launch of a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Pensacola and diverted an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile.

Alabama Marine Police and a good Samaritan boat crew also responded.

The airplane crew arrived on scene at 2:22 p.m. and located the vessel.

The Coast Guard and Alabama Marine Police boat crews arrived on scene at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The good Samaritan crew arrived on scene at approximately 2:30 p.m. and transferred the five survivors onto their vessel.

The good Samaritan crew towed the vessel to shore.
