HOUSTON — The Coast Guard assisted two people to safety after their plane crashed in a field 3 miles northeast of Ellington Field, Tuesday.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., two Coast Guard Air Station Houston aircrews that were conducting training in the area overheard a radio transmission from a pilot stating that he had lost engine power and was going down. An aircrew observed the small single engine aircraft emergency land in a field nearby.
Both aircrews diverted to the scene to assist. The aircrews then took the two people to Ellington Field where they were met my EMS. The two people are reported to have no injuries.
The plane had reportedly left La Porte airport when they had engine trouble.
