Coast Guard assists people from boat fire

SEATTLE – Coast Guard crew members from a 25-foot response boat treated crewmembers for hypothermia and burns after their pleasure craft caught fire in the vicinity of Port Orchard, Wash.

A Good Samaritan recovered two, and the captain of the burning vessel recovered the remaining two of five people from the water and notified the Coast Guard at 8:17 p.m. Two males and three females had been on the vessel.

All five people were taken to the Port Orchard Marina where local fire and emergency medical personnel were waiting to administer aid and transfer them to Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.

No pollution has been reported at this time.
